Review of solo ads

Internet Marketers say ‘the money is the list’ well it all depends on what kind of list you have and how you grew that list.

As an example I have built up a list of over 400 subscribers, all are double opt-ins, but they are not very responsive to the offers which I have promoted. Bearing in mind that I have only promoted  products to my list which I have used and/or are still are using; Chris Farrell Membership, Directory of Ezines, some of John Thornhill’s products and now Dean Holland.

So what are the likely reasons for my unresponsive list?

Let’s look at some of the reasons?

  • The product was no good – since I only promote products that I have found useful this is not the case.
  • The emails which I sent were not very good – the majority of these solo ads I sent were all pre-written by the product owners who would have spent considerable amount of time and money to make sure they convert.
  • Sales funnel was wrong – again the same comments as above
  • The sales links in my solo ads didn’t work – that can’t be the case as I tested all of them.

Therefore, by a process of elimination it can only be the quality of the solo ad vendors that I used to build my list and in all honesty I didn’t use the most expensive ones, I went for the cheaper end of the market, so it appears that I got what I paid for.

Here is a list of some of the solo ad vendors that I have used and that I don’t intend to use again:

  • Red hot solos
  • Dr Bruce
  • Angelo Sayson
  • Gedas
  • Cal Caplin
  • Fiverr -  very cheap and not cheerful as results are very bad

Now I have started on my new venture with the Affiliate Club I will only use better quality solo ad vendors as there is no point in getting people on your lists that are unresponsive just to have them there. Furthermore, the auto-responder (Aweber) which I use charge you according to how many people on your lists, so its time I did a little house-keeping and got rid of the ones that never even open the emails.

In this week’s Affiliate Club webinar Louis critically reviewed some member’s blogs live online, one of which was mine. Overall he said it looked good but recommend some changes which I will endeavour to do in the coming weeks. So it’s back to the Chris Farrell membership site to refresh my memory on how to make the required charges to my blog, maybe introduce a few new plugins on the way and make it even more pleasing on the eye. Well that’s the plan anyway.

Have a great weekend
